In conjunction with it@cork, CIX is organising a breakfast meeting to discuss the opportunities for Cork, should it exploit its natural geographic advantage as a global IP transit switching centre. The venue is the Vertigo Restaurant on the 17th floor of the County Hall. Registration will commense at 7:30am and a full Irish breakfast will be served until 8:10am. All guests are requested to be seated by 8:15am. The event will be over by 10:00am.

He previously served as Vice Chairman of the Dáil Committee on European Union Affairs and as a Member of the Dáil Committee on Finance and Public Expenditure and Reform. He also served as Chairman of the Fine Gael Committee on European Affairs, Foreign Affairs & Trade. Minister Murphy will outline the key significance for the region, and for Ireland as a whole, of improved connectivity to mainland Europe, the UK, the USA and potentially directly to Asia. |

Hibernia Networks Inc. - CEO - Bjarni Thorvardarson Mr. Bjarni Thorvardarson is the CEO of Hibernia Networks since January 2005. Mr. Thorvardarson joined CVC, Hibernia’s parent company, in 2002 from ISB bank where he launched and managed the publicly traded Talenta-Technology fund which focused on emerging communication and IT opportunities. Prior work experience includes investment banking at FBA bank, management of an MIS department and European Sales Director for Traffic Software. Mr. Thorvardarson holds an M.Sc. degree in Engineering from UW-Madison, an MBA from ISG in Paris and an M.Sc. in Finance from London Business School. Mr. Thorvardarson has also served on the board of various private and public portfolio companies of his fund and that of CVC, serving as Chairman of the publicly traded Vodafone Iceland.
Mr. Thorvardarson will outline the current staus of the Hibernia-Express project connecting Cork to New York and Cork to London. This project is scheduled to go on-net in September 2015. |

Arctic Fibre Inc. - Chief Executive Officer - Mike Cunningham Mike Cunningham is Chief Executive Officer of Arctic Fibre, a company developing a subsea telecommunications network between Japan and the United Kingdom with spurs into 14 Arctic communities and into Cork, Ireland. The project is driven by the demand for high speed Internet in Alaska and Canada, and transoceanic capacity between Europe and Asia. Previously, Mike served as Vice President of Windward Telecom, a wholesale voice and data carrier operating in the Caribbean and founded Speak Telecom, a Toronto-based telecommunications carrier that was acquired in 2008. Prior to 2004, he worked in the investment industry as a Research Analyst at Northern Rivers Capital Management. He holds a BA from the University of Western Ontario, a Master of Finance degree from Queens University, and holds the Canadian Investment Manager designation from the Canadian Securities Institute. Ireland-France Subsea Cable Limited - Chief Executive Officer - Doug Cunningham Doug Cunningham is a serial telecommunications entrepreneur and is the founder of Arctic Fibre. Since 1998 he has served as President of Network Research Inc. which has provided advisory services to technology, media, telecommunications and energy utility sectors in more than a dozen countries. He has financed or managed seven telecommunications startups in Canada, the United Kingdom and the Caribbean. Prior to 1998 Doug Cunningham served as a Senior Vice President and Managing Director of a number of leading investment dealers in Canada and was consistently a top-ranked analyst in the telecommunications and regulated sector between 1982 and 1993. He holds both HBA and MBA degrees from the University of Western Ontario and the ICD.D designation from the University of Toronto. Doug Cunningham will outline Ireland-France Subsea Cable's timetable to construct a direct subsea link between Cork and Lannion France which will obviate the need for signals to cross the United Kingdom to reach the continent and cables which connect Marseille France to the Middle East.
